Community Feedback Portal for Bob Desert Nichols (Dez)

We appreciate you visiting this dedicated space created to listen and facilitate understanding around any concerns related to Robert Nichols, known in the sacred sexuality community as Baba Dez or simply Dez. This space is designed to provide a confidential and supportive environment for community members to voice their thoughts, helping to foster understanding and healing.

About Us:

We are Anaisa and Denyse, independent mediators. We do not have personal relationships with anyone involved and maintain strict professional boundaries. Our backgrounds in psychoanalysis and sociology, combined with extensive experience with Transformative Mediation and Restorative Justice, equip us to handle this delicate process with utmost integrity and care. We are committed to a trauma-informed approach, ensuring that all interactions here support healing and constructive dialogue.

Our Commitment to Safety and Respect:

Your safety and emotional well-being are our top priorities. We strive to ensure that this space is safe, respectful, and sensitive to the needs of those who have experienced hurt. We understand the complexities of power dynamics and the importance of a space where your voice can be heard without judgment.

Our Role and Your Safety:

Our primary role is to facilitate communication, not to pass judgment or enforce any outcomes. This portal is designed to collect feedback that can help foster understanding and potentially guide future dialogues. We understand that some may confuse our role with an expectation to mediate directly with Dez. However, our focus here is to provide a safer space for you to share your voice, not to push for mediation or any particular outcome.

Please note that this feedback portal is NOT designed to serve as an accountability process. While Dez is open and willing to participate in such a process, Safe Mediation’s current focus is solely on facilitating feedback which may lead to such a process. This portal is not part of any legal or disciplinary actions but is a step towards healing community relations. If mediation is desired, we may step into that role to facilitate deeper resolution and repair, , but only after exploring whether the parties feel safe enough to engage and understand our approach, which combines Transformative Mediation and Restorative Justice to prioritize healing, accountability, and mutual understanding.

Financing and Neutrality:

We understand that some of you may have concerns about our neutrality, especially given that Dez is funding this feedback portal. It’s important to us that you know this decision was made because, as someone in a position of power, Dez has a responsibility to be accountable, and we believe it’s unfair to ask those who’ve experienced hurt to bear this cost.

Our role in facilitating communication is to ensure that everyone involved has an equal opportunity to be heard and that no one side is given more weight or preference over another. We are fully aware of the dynamics at play, and we are committed to maintaining strict neutrality. Our work is guided by professional ethics, not by who is funding the process. We’re here to support a process that is hard on the issues and at the same time is respectful to all parties involved, including Dez. We’re committed to holding a space where your voice matters and where real change can happen in your community.
